WhatsApp started testing its UPI feature in beta testing, Big Challenge for Indian e-Wallets Paytm & PhonePay
WhatsApp UPI Payment Feature: Many Messenger apps come and go, but WhatsApp is still maintained its position at the top. After gaining huge success in text messaging WhatsApp rolled out WhatsApp business. Now WhatsApp making his way towards digital payments in India by introducing UPI feature. This feature is in beta mode and recently it went into testing phase for P2P payments for both Android & iOS users in India. After demonetization, Digital wallets roasted payments in India such as Paytm, PhonePay etc. Whatsapp will make a big impact as it has huge numbers of users in India, so its payment method will be simple and easy to use.
WhatsApp is working on Payment since last year, many screenshots and demos available on the internet but now WhatsApp make this feature available as a beta tester for testing and making it smooth.
As we all know, WhatsApp has a huge number of users and it is most versatile messenger available till now. Near about 250+ Million users uses WhatsApp in India, after providing Stories, Video/Audio calls, Document sending this time WhatsApp is rolling out person to person payment feature will make it more productive.
Previously, Google announced it’s TEZ app for digital payments, India based messenger Hike announced payments and gift cards, Paytm has more than 180+ Million users so WhatsApp is entering in this competition now by adding features of UPI based payments.

you can add your bank account in WhatsApp, such as you add it in BHIM UPI or same, and you can do transactions through your bank accounts using WhatsApp. you can do transaction between the different bank accounts without any additional charge.
The UPI-based payment feature has been seen in WhatsApp beta version 2.18.41 for Android and 2.18.21 for iOS.
You can see payment option along with Documents, Gallery, Audio, Loca, ion, and Contacts. After selecting Payments option, it shows disclaimer by banks. After that, a user sees a list of banks, then you can add your accounts, set UPI pin, authentication pin and you’re done.
Users have to create a UPI account first within UPI application or respective bank’s website, and then generate authentication pin.
Few users can see this feature in India, and this payment method is only for India now. There is no news for other countries. Many users who’re using this feature complaining about issues like bank account linking fail, crashes and all. So the application is in beta, WhatsApp will refine it before its stable rollout for Android and iOS.
WhatsApp is also working on Stickers packets like hike and grouped video calling. you can add only 3 peoples in this call and you cannot switch between audio and video.
